About Us

How The Cat Nanny Service Works

At The Cat Nanny, we strive to make the booking and care process as seamless as possible, ensuring peace of mind for both you and your cat. Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Confirm Your Booking

Once you’ve chosen your dates and confirmed your booking, we require a 50% non-refundable deposit within 24 hours to secure your spot. This deposit confirms your booking and allows us to plan accordingly. The remaining 50% balance is due one week before the start of your booking.

Step 2: Free Consultation & Pet Profile

We cover the entire Isle of Man, and we offer all new clients a free consultation. During this consultation, we’ll visit you and your cat at home, get to know your cat’s routine, and create an online pet portal profile. This profile will store essential details such as:

•Medical history
•Feeding schedule
•Vaccination history
•Any special needs or preferences for your cat.

We’ll also collect a spare key at this time, ensuring we can access your home for each visit.

Step 3: Tailored Care & Daily Updates

Our visits are tailored to meet your cat’s specific needs, and all standard visits include the following:

•Bowls cleaned and fresh water provided.
•Feeding according to the schedule we’ve created.
•Medication administration (free of charge).
•Litter tray cleaned or refreshed.
•Food stations cleaned after each meal.
•Daily monitoring of your cat’s health and well-being.
•Daily updates with photos and videos (upon request).
•We will aim to visit at a preferred time (though this is not guaranteed).

Step 4: Extra Services

We also offer a range of additional services to make sure everything runs smoothly while you’re away, including:

•Putting out the bins.
•Watering plants.
•Collecting post and parcels.
•Opening and closing curtains.
•Turning lights on/off.
•Hoovering certain rooms.
•Taking your cat to the vet if needed.

We want to ensure that not only your cat is well taken care of, but that your home is too!

Thank you for trusting The Cat Nanny with the care of your furry family member. We’re here to offer you peace of mind while you’re away, knowing your cat is in safe, loving hands. If you have any questions or are ready to book, feel free to get in touch!

Arrival

What to Expect During a Typical Cat Sitting Visit

When our cat sitters arrive at your home, each visit is tailored to your cat’s unique personality and needs. We know that every cat is different—some are outgoing and eager to greet us, while others are more reserved and like to observe from a distance.

Greeting Your Cat

Upon arrival, we may be met with a few different scenarios:

•The Enthusiastic Welcomer: Some cats love the attention and rush to the door to say hello, purring and rubbing against our legs. For these cats, we’ll give them the attention they crave and spend time interacting with them, whether it’s a cuddle, a scratch behind the ears, or simply sitting quietly with them.

•The Hider: Other cats may be a bit more cautious and choose to hide when they first hear a new person at the door. Cats are excellent at finding hiding spots, so don’t worry if your cat isn’t immediately visible—this is completely normal! We’ll give them space and time to adjust. Cats can be very good at playing hide-and-seek, and in most cases, we’ll let them come out on their own terms once they feel comfortable.

Tailored Care During the Visit

Our cat sitters are experienced with all breeds of cats, and we always approach each cat with care and respect for their personality. Some cats may enjoy lots of fuss, while others prefer a more hands-off approach. During the visit, we make sure to:

•Provide fresh food and water as per your cat’s feeding schedule.

•Clean the litter tray and refresh it if needed.

•Administer any medication if required.

•Offer grooming (if your cat enjoys it) or just some quiet time if that’s what they prefer.

If a cat is particularly nervous or doesn’t want interaction, we minimize stress by doing the essentials—feeding, cleaning, and watering—without forcing any interaction. We’ll always ensure that your cat has what they need while keeping their stress levels as low as possible.

After the Visit

We understand how important it is to stay connected with your pet while you’re away. After each visit, we’ll send you a photo update with a little message letting you know how the visit went. Whether your cat was snuggling up for some cuddles or keeping their distance, you’ll know exactly how your furry friend is doing.

At The Cat Nanny, we treat your cat like family, ensuring their comfort and happiness while you’re away. If you ever have questions or want to discuss your cat’s specific needs, we’re always happy to chat.

Feeding

Feeding Your Cat: A Personalized Approach

At The Cat Nanny, we understand that food is a big deal for cats—it’s often how they show their affection and trust, and it’s definitely a strong association they have with their human caregivers. Because we know how important feeding time is for your cat, we make sure it’s a smooth, stress-free experience every time we visit.

Monitoring Eating Habits

During each visit, we prioritize your cat’s feeding routine. We keep a close eye on how much they’re eating and whether they’re eating their meals at the right pace. This helps us spot any potential issues with their appetite or behavior, giving you peace of mind while you’re away.

In multi-cat households, we’re extra attentive to ensure that every cat gets their fair share. We take care to monitor portions and make sure each of your cats has access to their food without any competition or stress.

Customizing to Your Cat’s Diet

Whether your cat prefers wet food, dry food, raw food, steamed food, or any other special dietary needs, we’re happy to accommodate. We understand that every cat is different, and that diet plays a big role in their overall health and happiness.

During the consultation, we’ll discuss your cat’s specific feeding preferences, any food allergies, or special dietary requirements. We’ll also make note of any feeding schedules or particular ways you prefer their meals to be prepared or served.

Peace of Mind for You and Your Cat

Whether it’s a simple meal or a more specialized diet, you can trust us to follow your instructions carefully and feed your cat exactly how you would. If you have any questions about your cat’s food or feeding schedule, we’re always happy to discuss it with you during the consultation.

With The Cat Nanny, you can be confident that your cat’s meals are in expert hands while you’re away!

Litter

Litter Tray Care: Ensuring Cleanliness and Health

At The Cat Nanny, we understand that keeping your cat’s litter tray clean is crucial to their comfort, happiness, and health. Most of our clients have litter trays, and we take care of them with the same attention to detail that we give to all aspects of your cat’s care.

Following Your Instructions

We always follow your specific instructions regarding how often you would like the litter tray to be cleaned or completely changed. Some cats prefer a fresh tray daily, while others might only need it refreshed every few days. Whatever your preference, we’ll make sure your cat’s litter tray is cleaned to your exact specifications.

Health Monitoring Through the Litter Tray

Litter trays are not just about cleanliness—they’re also an excellent way for us to keep an eye on your cat’s health. During each visit, we monitor:

•Frequency of use: A decrease in frequency may signal a health concern.

•Urine and stool consistency: Any changes in your cat’s elimination habits, such as blood in the stools, unusual color or texture, or signs of discomfort, can be early indicators of health issues.

If we notice anything concerning, we’ll make sure to let you know, so you can take the necessary steps to check in with your vet.

Cleanliness and Freshness

After every visit, we make sure the litter tray is left in a clean and fresh state, removing any waste and replacing the litter as needed. A tidy, well-maintained litter tray is essential for your cat’s happiness, as it encourages them to use it regularly and helps keep their environment hygienic.

With our careful attention to your cat’s litter tray, you can be sure that we’re not only keeping things clean but also monitoring their overall well-being. If you have any preferences or special instructions for your cat’s litter care, we’ll be happy to discuss them during your consultation!

Playtime

Playtime: The Highlight of Every Visit

At The Cat Nanny, we believe that playtime is the best part of every visit—it’s when we get to bond with your cat and see their personality shine. Whether your cat is an energetic ball of curiosity or a laid-back snuggler, we make sure they get the attention, affection, and fun they deserve during every visit.

Lots of Attention and Affection

For cats who love affection, we’ll spend time giving them the cuddles, head scratches, and belly rubs that make them feel comfortable and loved. We know that every cat is unique, so we pay attention to how much attention they like and adjust accordingly. Some cats may prefer lots of one-on-one time, while others are happy to relax nearby as we go about our tasks.

Playtime with Favorite Toys

Play is essential to your cat’s happiness, and we always bring out their favorite toys to make sure they get plenty of mental and physical stimulation. From interactive toys like feather wands to catnip-filled balls, we’ll engage with them in a way that keeps them entertained and active. It’s a great way to keep their energy levels balanced and their spirits high while you’re away.

Grooming and Bonding

For cats who enjoy grooming, we’re happy to brush them to help keep their fur smooth and shiny. This also serves as a great bonding moment, and it’s a lovely way to calm and comfort cats who may feel a little anxious or shy. We take care to ensure your cat enjoys the grooming process, and we’ll keep an eye out for any mats or tangles that need attention.

Capturing the Moment

We know how important it is to stay connected with your cat when you’re not around. That’s why we’re happy to take photos and videos during playtime, so you can see just how much fun they’re having. Whether it’s a funny moment with their favorite toy or a peaceful nap after playtime, you’ll receive updates that let you know exactly how your cat is doing.

At The Cat Nanny, we love making playtime a special part of our visits. It’s not just about keeping your cat entertained; it’s about creating moments of connection and joy. If your cat has any specific preferences for play, grooming, or affection, just let us know during your consultation, and we’ll make sure to cater to their needs!

Final Checks

Final Checks After Each Visit: Ensuring Safety and Peace of Mind

At The Cat Nanny, we believe in offering a comprehensive service that goes beyond just caring for your cat. After every visit, we make sure to perform a few final checks to ensure your home is safe, secure, and looks “lived in” while you’re away.

Basic Home Checks

Before leaving your home, we do a quick safety check to ensure everything is in order. This includes:

•Ensuring windows and doors are properly closed and locked.
•Checking that your home’s entryways are secure.
•Looking over any areas where safety or security could be a concern.

These checks give you peace of mind knowing that your property is being well looked after, and that any potential issues are addressed.

Discreet Service

We understand the importance of discretion when you’re not home. That’s why we take extra care to ensure that we don’t draw attention to your property. We don’t display any brand advertisements on our vehicle, which helps us remain discreet and avoid signaling to anyone that your home is currently unoccupied.

Keeping Your Home “Lived In”

One of the key benefits of having a cat sitter is that it makes your home look lived in while you’re away, which helps deter unwanted attention. We’ll take simple steps to make your home appear active, such as drawing curtains, turning on lights, or bringing in any post that’s left outside. This little extra touch ensures your home stays secure.

Outdoor Cats & Cat Flaps

For homes with outdoor cats, we always check that the cat flap is working properly. If you have a timer set for it to open or unlock at certain times, we’ll make sure it’s functioning correctly, so your outdoor cat has access when needed. If we notice any issues, we’ll bring it to your attention so you can make any necessary adjustments.

At The Cat Nanny, we go the extra mile to make sure that both your cat and your home are safe and secure while you’re away. From final safety checks to discreet service and taking care of your home’s details, you can trust us to provide a complete and professional experience every time!
